Well, just in case you didn’t know, Red Hat, provider of the most famous Linux Distribution has bought JBoss, a developer for open source middleware for about 450 million dollar. So much for that.
What’s really interesting is the fact, how Marc Fleury thought about Red Hat about 1 1/2 years ago. In his blog, he gave the following examples:
Today RH *IS* a proprietary vendor. Their whole business is around proprietary wrappers to Open Source Linux to drive the subscription business. [...] RH is a packager, it doesn’t create JACK, it doesn’t create Linux, it wraps it up in proprietary shit. And no the contributions that they make don’t really count. Linus Torvalds creates Linux. [...] RH is really a LINUX PACKAGER (and a proprietary one at that), today the Open Source != Linux
Oh well, don’t even bother looking for them now, as they are already deleted. Of course they want to live peaceful side by side, as stated in this article by InfoWorld. Too bad for him, the blog entry still exists in the Google cache, right here. Well, if Fleury had sticked to some blog standards, there would be no need to delete all those entries…
