I have to admit, it's a great experience for me to develop and maintain Lush. And I couldn't be happier with the release so far; people do like this theme very much, they come to me with questions, requests, pointing me to bugs etc. It's great to see that they really want to use the theme and helping me to make it even better.
However, there's always the question of the direction the theme should go, which means more functionality. Two things came to my mind, which I want to adress to you, the reader and possible user of the theme.
WordPress Widgets
You probably heard already of it, if not: WordPress widgets is a new approach on customizing the sidebar of a theme. You drag and drop all the stuff you want and leave the things out that you don't like. Honestly, I don't like this plugin very much. But the theme is not for me, it's for you, the user. So, would you like to see support for Widgets?
More builtin support for other plugins
I don't use that much plugins, in fact, I have only two activated. And most of the time, I code the stuff by myself, so I can have the control of it. But this leads also to the fact that I don't have a clue, which plugins are popular, well used and would be nice to be integrated with Lush. Can you?
Before you start listing 12^2 plugins, consider that I will not include every one which you name, only those, which seems to be quite popular.

I have the same opinion to wordpress widgets like you, but i think it’s the way of life of wordpress and a nice handy feature.
Well more plugins…. there are so many plugins… you figure it out witch one would be the best :)
Also i would like to say that more than a new plugins support please try to make this theme faster. New plugins will slow down the theme more.
This theme is really cut so please review the code that you create to make it faster loading.
Thanx for you work man !
I’m quite new to blogging, and have conquered the wordpress learning curve, but not php yet. I must admit that i went mad on plugins – I must have 12 or 14 loaded. I can’t remember what most of them do now. I guess I was a kid with a new toy.
Can anyone recommend a plugin “Plugin Manager”? :-)
Wp-shortstat is all I use – just cause I’m new though.
I really like this theme. I just wish more people would design with a liquid main post area and don’t know why they just dont. It makes it more convenient to resize the window. I can understand for special graphically designed pages but most just dont need a static post column. It would be nice to see a 3 column layout with a liquid center as well =]
But this one is beautifully done IMO. Looks great but not over the top busy.
Okay then, the current progress: I’m currently integrating WordPress Widgets into the theme, in the most convenient way possible, so that anyone, who don’t like them (like me) don’t have to use them.
Then, the last thing will be to take a brief look at the code, so that maybe I can optimize it a little bit…
..and that will be it. Since there are no more errors, after that release, Lush will be 1.0. There comes the time when I have to make a cut and move on.
ok thanx look forward to that optimize code :)
good luck with that !
I’ve been messing around with this since yesterday and I have to say I really love it. I modified the sidebars to be expandable and collapsible with Kadabra with little trouble because I have way too many categories and a HUGE blogroll.
I am having trouble with the flickr plugin but I havent given up yet.
Next, I’m going to try the lightbox javascript. I’m going to try to get Live Avatars in the preview function for comments too as done by Feckless mind. . Perhaps you could include it in the gravatar code? I think they’re kind of kooky but they’re a cool feature to have if people want them.
I know it’s crazy but i think my last effort will be to see if i can implement your design in a 3 column liquid center format but that’s a ways off. Thanks for all your work.
And as for the Widgets, I played with them but I found them pretty pointless so far. Conceptually, it’s cool, but I feel like I would rather get my hands dirty in the html part.
No widgets, please. But you could put it as a feature. You could enable it if you want, in the theme options.
I use LUSH at my website http://www.life-is.nl but for some reason, the live-search isn’t working. I asked a bunch of friends to test it, and they all say the same, it isn’t working.
It was tested under windows with both IE 6 an Firefox 1.5.0.1
I can’t find the problem, so I’m hoping for some help here.
Hallo Marko,
Danke
