Lush is an ultra advanced theme for Wordpress for bloggers who want everything without any difficult technical stuff involved. Drop it in, enable it and you'll be rolling with a feature packed Wordpress weblog.
Lush is easy to install and easy to use! Almost everything has been taken care of. Here are some small pointers to keep in mind when using this theme. At the bottom of this document you'll find a full list of distinctive features for this theme.

I worked for over 100 hours on this theme which means it represents a $5000+ value. It's my gift to the Typo community but a link to my site would be really nice.
The theme was ported to Wordpress by Christoph Boecken. You can find the original theme for Typo at w3-labs.com.
Browser support
This theme has been tested and tuned for a plethora of browsers. It even works fine visually in Internet Explorer 5.0. In terms of functionality it works in Internet Explorer 5.5 and up. The theme has been tested on Firefox, Internet Explorer 6, Safari, Omniweb and Opera 8.5+. IE for Mac is broken unfortunately. It crashes on the Javascript that comes with Wordpress.
Features
This theme has a lot of features that set it apart from the majority of free weblog templates:
- 100% custom design. Every pixel was designed especially for this theme. That means all graphics are unique.
- extensive browser support including IE5/5.5's broken box model
- Special graphical notice for users of IE5/5.5 encouraging them to upgrade their browser. It's only visible when using one of these browsers.
- alternating trackback styles
- print stylesheet for perfect article printing
- customized live search
- customized table-less comment form
- customized categories page
- various script.aculo.us visual effect enhancements
- adjustable font size for improved readability
- full gravatar support including a fallback default gravatar that fits with the theme
- XHTML 1.0 Strict
- A nice easter egg
- Builtin support for Ultimate Tag Warrior, Gravatar, flickRSS and time since.
- Support for WordPress Widgets
This theme is dedicated to my lovely girlfriend Renie who had to bear with me tweaking and tinkering with this theme every night and weekends for a whole month. - Marco
Wordpress related notes
This theme took me quite some time to port it to Wordpress, the javascript parts are difficult and this is also the first time for me writing a functions.php on my own. At this state, the theme should work, although there are some javascript warnings in Internet Explorer. If there are problems, keep me informed.
As of 0.99.5, Lush is now completely localized! Thanks to Ralph for his great work!

Like I told you in email and on your temporary demo site already: I really appreciate your effort in doing this port. You managed to create a pixel-perfect conversion preserving all cool features that make Lush stand out.
An excellent job. My highest praise!
Just one more remark: The livesearch seems to be broken in your demo while I remember it to be working yesterday…. strange!
congratulations! I like it a lot
You did not add the pages info to the sidebar and no matter how hard I try I can’t seem to add it either.
Okay, the first fixes: pages and the meta section are now available in the sidebar, as well as the edit post link right of the headings.
@Jolie: I assume you mean informations like the category, word count and so on for a specific post. I’ll see what can I do for you, but since it was not intended for this theme, it will not go in the zip too.
@Marco: This seems to be a AJAX related problem, if you dynamically load data from a file hosted on another domain, which will not work. You can experience the same effect on http://digglicious.com and http://www.digglicious.com – only the latter one works.
Ah that makes sense indeed! It might be worthwhile to tell people to take this into account and make sure their whole site runs on one domain. Either with or without the www. part :)
You encouraged me to play with the livesearch again, as you left comment on my test site.
Livesearch works fine in IE, but not in Firefox 1.5. Problem is not with path to callback script generating results as you suggested. Search result is generated as it should, but function liveSearchProcessReqChange is not called in Firefox, so result is not displayed.
@Maros> That is probably the issue that Jeriko addressed. If everything is either with www. or without www. and you don’t mix things up it should work.
Check out http://www.phpied.com/ for example. On that site the livesearch works in Firefox.
Great theme. Can’t wait to play with it! Well done, my friend.
Marco: No, it’s not the problem of mixing urls with or without www. I have same problem on http://www.phpied.com, working in IE, not working in Firefox 1.5. If I would mess urls with and without www, it won’t work in IE too. By the way, try my test site at http://wordpress.miskerik.sk and see for yourself. It’s working in IE, not working in Firefox 1.5. Maybe you’re using Firefox 1.0.7 or older.
Why cant I download the theme? Is there a direct link to it besides the one posted above?
My bad, I’ve installed a download manager to keep track of the downloads (just for statistic purposes), but I didn’t set the permissions right. Should work now.
Great theme Jeriko. You rulez!
Jeriko, everything seems to work fine except that the RSS feed for individual post and comments don’t work, any clues?
@Maros I’m using Firefox 1.5.0.1 and the livesearch works fine for me on your site.
Marco: I finaly found out that problem is caused by FireBug Firefox Extension ( https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=1843&application=firefox ). Once I uninstalled it, livesearch works. It probably messes onreadystatechange attribute while accessing it.
A very fine theme and a great work! But I miss the nextpage-function in larger entries. There is no Pages 1 2 3 … Whats wrong?
New version 0.99.2 is available.
@fongstanley:This was a typo by me
@ago: To be honest, this is the first time I’ve heard from this :-) The page links are now displayed when viewing an individual post. Are they supposed to be displayed on the front page too?
I have now activated Lush on a 1.5.2 site, there are couple of things which users must be aware of, see this post http://blog.fongstanley.com/2006/03/09/lush-theme/
It would nice, if you keep a change log as it would be hard for me to trace which file/line should be over written as I have done fair amount of customization, thanks.
@fongstanley: I’ve customized the functions.php to work as a plugin for Wordpress 1.5.2. Now you can have the same functionality for this version, too.
If you do write some decent page templates, I would be happy to integrate them! :-)
Changelog is a good idea, I’ll keep that in mind for further modifications.
Jeriko,
Have made a template named “links” to display links and archives by month and categories and my del.icio.us links
see http://blog.fongstanley.com/links/
If you want that I’ll send over via email to you, need your help on CSS as the dots for are not consistent with your theme
Actually, I don’t see any problems with consistency. I’m also in the process of writing a template of my own that matches with the original one (seen over here).
But keep the problems coming, I want this baby to be 1.0 as soon as possible! :-)
thanks Jeriko, you have fixed an issue here on commenting. By the time you check out my “link” page I have fixed it by wrapping correctly with post div class. The sqaure frame around the RSS button (smallest I can find) looks a bit odd, if you don’t mind to have a look there again.
Your CSS design is best I have seen so far, see my comments here http://blog.fongstanley.com/2006/03/10/built-another-blog/
but I would prefer not to have menu for theme, it’s part of the fun playing with the codes rather than just ticking boxes.
I guess the easiest solution to the rss icon issue would be to add a style=”border:none” to the img-tag. Not the cleanest solution, I know, but it’s a problem specific to your needs. Also, since you’re using a page template, you could include another stylesheet.
The menu thing, yeah. I agree with you, as I also like to tinker with the code. But I guess where just a minority, most people just want a theme that works, and a menu greatly helps them in tweaking some functions of it. Also it’s not that much code that relies on this menu and can be easily removed.
One word… Absolutely Fantastic :)
Thanks for a lovely Theme, I am sure the others will agree that your time is very much apreciated.
OK, more than one word.
Hi again, one question:
On my site and the test site, the comment dates on each comment ‘bubble’ seems to be the same date as the first comment even if the comments are posted on different days, is this the case when you view the comments page??
Thanks
D
New release 0.99.3 available.
Oh my…I’ve totally overlooked this since I had the time since plugin activated. Thanks for pointing this out!
This fix requires only changes on one line, as stated in the changelog.
Just for fun and I think it’s cool to turn the post edit link into a clickable icon using the ladybug, however below didn’t work for some reasons? Any clues?
?php edit_post_link(”); ?
May be I should do this to let you see the codes, sorry for duplicate posting.
'); ?>Just started to customize and use your beautiful, wonderful theme. I am going crazy trying to turn the large left photo on the banner into a link to the main page. Any advice here? I’ve done it on several other themes such as http://www.leftcoastlifestyle.com but can’t seem to get it here.
Awesome theme!
Okay, seem to have gotten the header link to work, now my problem is this:
It displayed perfectly in FF, but in IE, when I added my last post it knocked the sidebar down below the content. So I changed my .post width to 538 and everything stays contained in ie, but now my pretty lines under the post heading and beneath the meta stuff have a white gap between them and the sidebar on the right.
Lance, this is a bug in Internet Explorer with italics, mentioned here.
Try to decrease the width of .postcontent instead of .post and see, if that works out for you.
And as far as I can see, you did manage to put the header graphics into a link, right? :-)
Jerko, i did a complete localization of Lush for WordPress – except the buttons with text (i hope, that Marco will help me with them).
If you’re interested in implementing my localization into the “official” Lush, just mail me and i’m sure, we’ll make something up ;-)
Not to forget – i also included a German translation!
Okay, fixed the italics thing by using the overflow: visible in the .post part of the CSS, but the hot link banner image is giving me fits. Here’s the CSS I used:
#hotheader {
width: 542px;
height: 160px;
margin-left: 7px !important;
margin-left: 0px;
padding: 0;
float: left;
text-align: right;
}
I added the above div and then used this inside the head div on the corresponding pages:
Now, it works like a champ in FF, perfectly clickable exactly around that one pic in the banner, but in IE it pushed over the 7 pixels to line it up and that knocked the sidebar all the way down the page again. As you can see, I made the margin 0 for IE so that the sidebar would stay in place, but this leaves me with two problems:
1) the clickable area is too far to the left 7 pixels and not far enough over to the right 7 pixels as a result.
2) It seems to be leaving an ugly black line across the bottom of the actual header graphic, just above the first post title. It doesn’t do this all the time, I tried clearing my WP-Cache to make sure it wasn’t just left over, or whatever, but I’m stumped on this one.
Okay (sorry to bombard you) – it was the ladybug up top conflicting with the hot spot on the banner, I got rid of the lady bug, no black line in IE. I still can’t figure out how to get my hotspot moved over in IE so it’s line up right without knocking the sidebar to the bottom…
Now I’m losing it – out of nowhere, most of my graphics stopped appearing…
Fixed the missing images – for some reason I don’t understand Dreamweaver added an extra . in my image tags in the stylesheet. Changed them to absolute addresses and that’s that.
Allright, I need some help here!
I’ve installed the them, it looks more than amazing! Christ almighty! Trs nice! Beyond nice! Anyway…
There’s a few problems I can’t figure out. I switched from Blogger to WP and i’m a total n00b at this point. I need help with this:
* I’ve tried to hotlink the header image, but I wouldnt know where to do that. What is the PHP I have to look into to add an URL? Please respond with an example!
* When downloading the theme, there’s an icon called ‘home’ in the files. How do I make this icon appear on the site? And how do I hotlink it to ‘home’?
* When I open my site in IE, the side bar drops down to the bottom of the page. What did I do wrong? (I use FF, but checked IE)
* When clicking CATEGORIES the page opens, but there’s a piece of the body missing. How do I solve this?
* Looking through the stylesheets, I found an option to print the page, but I can’t find it anywhere.
* I’d like to add images to my links, is there a way to add stuff in the sidebar, without having to update all PHP-sheets? Also, how and where do I add my STATS (i.e. OneStat)??
*Last Q for now: How do I arrange the links in alphabetical order??
It’s driving me mad for not being able to find answers to these problems by myself. Please help me out. Thank you kindly in advance. My website is located at: http://www.cargawar.com
Cheers,
Mark/Cargawar
sorry about that third point: I overread Lance’s comments and the previous Italics-bug response. Still, I’d like to use that ladybug hotspot in the future. Anyone who has a solution for this?
And onther thing: where’s that damn easter egg?! ;)
I’m using lush on a WP 1.5.2 blog and have everything working (more or less) apart from the comments.
I’ve looked at fongstanley’s blog as he’s running on the same platform, but I’ve no idea whether he received my comment about how to solve this issue.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
How do I access the functions menu?
And is anyone successfully using FAlbum in the sidebar?
Lance : I’m using flickrRSS with the Lush template, it is perfectly inserted with the theme.
I encountered a problem when I try to add a module in the sidebar (introduced with tags and a title between tags). When I do that, the whole sidebar becomes only a black area. How could I remediate to that. I only tried to add a get links function module, because putting all the links in the same category isn’t very practical.
Thanks, Fredo
Whoa, many requests for just one person! Unfortunately, I have a fever which forces me to stay in bed. I’ll see what I can do for you and contact you via email, that’s a promise. It’ll just take some time.
Hey Jeriko, just get well first!
Thanx in advance, I appreciate it…
Ditto – get well stud. Appreciate your help.
Dying to know how to access the functions menu.
Also, flickrRSS works great, but as it limits you to only the last 10 photos uploaded and FAlbum allows you to have separate random galleries (in our case one for Behind The Scenes, another for Stills from the Film, etc.) I’m wanting to run that on. If I can figure out how to configure it like they have it at the FAlbum home where you can click random flickr pics in the sidebar and actually open the album and photos as pages in the posts area of the wordpress blog, that would just be the ultimate Lush site.
I seem to have the comments up and running again. I turned off quite a few plugins and I think the main offender might have been sk2. Even flick rss in the sidebar started working.
The only thing is that it sends all comments straight into moderation, but I think I can live with that.
Well, being the n00b that I am, I called out for help to Paul Woodhouse (check out his wicked interpretation of Lush!), who was too kind to send me some material to play with on the buttons he has up, however, I didn’t manage to get them positioned where I wanted to. I ended up adding a working HOME-button in the sidebar, which suits me perfectly. Even though I wish I could figure out how to get the HOME-icon up there…
Hotlinking the Header still doesn’t work with me. If anyone knows how to do this (remember: I don’t know shit about webdeigning, speak to me like I was a toddler, please! point out where I do what, name the sheets), please say so…
I restyled the Header image and about all the colors as well. It has a comfortable retro-look now…slick I might say, check it out: http://www.cargawar.com
Got rid of the ladybugs. Cool easter egg btw! If you can’t read Dutch, it says: Your Mom Dresses You Funny
Managed to get the LINKS in alphabetical order! Overlloked the admin options I guess…
I already figured out how to make the external links in posts go to a new page, now I’d like to do that with the links in the sidebar as well, anyone knows how to do this? It’s driving me mad!
Still having problems in IE: black on the right and a sidebar that drops down… HELP!
That’s it for now. Thanx again: Paul, Jeriko, Marco and all that are helping me out making me happy with this amazing template! Hope to hear from any of you soon…
First things first: There’s a new version 0.99.5 out (YAY!). It features an option to replace the header with a clickable image and adds the option to print articles.
Now, on to your issues:
@CARGAWAR:
* I can’t confirm the problem with your categories.
* Of course you can add as much stuff as you want to your sidebar. Have a look at the other entries, they’re all in the same format (a class called ’sidebar-node’ with the appropriate entries).
* There are options in the admin panel for every link you have. Set the target of your links to ‘_blank’ and they will open in a external window.
@FredoMikado:
The problem with get_links from Wordpress is that it adds another unordered list, if you want to display more than one category. If worked around this by only showing one category. If you want links from more than one category, implement them in the same manner as the original one by me.
Okay, I hope this helps. Have a great sunday!
Jeriko – hope you’re doing well.
Just had a quick issue. I installed Lush on my blog and I was running Jalenack’s Wordspew in the sidebar…Lush decided to format the shoutbox to what it wanted and borked everything. Any clue as to what would cause that? I tried tweaking some of the CSS but it didn’t really help.
Thanks for porting the theme to WordPress…
Marco, props to you for an awesome theme in the first place.
You guys rock.
I absolutely love this, and have started using it. Chris Brewer and Paul Woodhouse’s tweaks are gorgeous! I’m an idiot with this stuff, so it’ll take me a while to tweak mine.
I do have a problem though. My links are not appearing in the sidebar. I checked the code, and it’s there, but for some reason it’s not appearing. Any suggestions?
I think I finally finished tweaking the template to my needs now…
I figured out how to add stuff in the side bar, added a ‘print this post’ plugin and now it’s time to sit back comfortabely and start blogging…
–wrong!–
In some weird way, (if you click the “nieuws” category) the sidebar tends to drop again. It occurs to me that it’s caused by some post I must have up, that bounces the sidebar out of the picture. I honestly can’t find this bug. It’s annoying anyway…
I gave up on the hotlinked-header problem. I saw the Version 0.99.5, tried it too, but nothing happened… I doesn’t matter as I have a HOME-button on top now. Added a CONTACT-button while I was at it.
Now, making the links in the sidebar open in a new window made me dive into some PHP-sheet (WP-root) and change it there. I still don’t understand why it says ‘adding “target=”_blank” is not allowed in XHTML’ in the admin screen.
Anywayz, fixed that too…
Two minor bugs remain unsolved now: the dropping down of the sidebar in IE (I don’t think it’s due to the italics-bug in IE, it happens in FireFox as well.
It could be it’s because I imported posts from my blogger account, but when I was writing a post last night, using quotes, the whole damn sidebar disapeared! Not just dropped down, disappeared! (together with the rest of the posts) Not to worry: I rewrote the article (using a ‘page’ instead of a post). Problem solved.
Last thing I’d like to ask you: what would be a good plugin to add more options for the toolbar? I mean: I was used to using tools like resizing text, writing a post in Blogger, or colouring it. If anyone could drop a link to a good plugin I could use, thanx so much in advance!
btw: sorry for flaming this article with so many words. It’s just that I’m excited about switching from Blogger to WP and using this theme. I don’t have any other feedback but this article and its readers.
There’s a little typo with the hot header in 0.99.5. Unfortunately, I can’t upload new archives right now, so please have a look at the changelog, it’s just one word.
Hi – it’s a fantastic theme – I love it, but I’m also getting the IE6 phenomena of the sidebar dropping down underneath the main body.
Uhm yeah, I’m really sorry about that, I mean, after all it is a serious failure and I didn’t care about it…
Anyway, have a look in the changelog to see which changes have to be made to avoid that dropping sidebar. And always remember for other media (pics, vids, etc.): you have exactly 481 pixels in width available for content. Not less, but definetely not more.
Thanks for that – will look. Also, and this is probably just me being dumb, but how do I get the flickr RSS to work?
First off, thanks for the great theme Jeriko, it’s amazing. Secondly I updated to the new edition 0.99.5 and now I’m getting these errors:
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (wp-content/themes/lush/functions.php:265)
And then: The same thing with (wp-includes/pluggable-functions.php) on lines 247, 286, 287, 288, 289
This is only happening with this theme and only with this version. If you could be so kind to host the previous release I’d be extremely greatful, or a fix.
Figure this one out… I install the theme and test it before I start tweaking it to my needs. Home page looks fine, but when I click through to a post, the header/banner is repeated, one on top of the other.
I haven’t touched the code, so it’s pretty weird…
Found it! single.php is the culprit with an extra block for the header at the top of the file. Oops! Better fix that one!
Hey! I’ve also found a bug with displaying the default Gravatar in comments.php. I’ve fixed it and can emil you the updated template if you’d like. Email me offline.
@Tim Sewell: Get the flickrRSS Plugin, and supply a valid id in the option panel of it. Then active the integration in the sidebar through the lush options. That’s it.
@Steve Collins: After the last update, the duplicate entries of the header moved into header.php. I guess you just forgot to remove the entries in single.php and page.php ;-) Also, thanks for the hint with the gravatar, I fixed it already.
@Michael: Yeah, I recognized this too, and I don’t have clue why it comes up. It’s too sad because there’s more stuff I want to implement and configure via an admin panel, like FAlbum. I’m working on it.
@Jeriko: could you tell me if there’s a way to create a template for Pages that I can choose from the Admin Panel?
I’d like to have a standard template for:
* photopage
* embedded movie page (i.e. Mediaplayer)
I think I can figure out how to tweak the page template to my wishes, but what next? Where do I put it?
Also, I found out that the IE-bug (sidebar dropping down) was caused by older posts I imported from Blogger. Somehow it overlapped the width of the post area. I fixed it manually (some of them anyway) and it seems to solve the problem. Now, there seems to be a slight problem with the Categories: in some of them the posts are aligned on top of eachother, drifting to the right. Looks like it’s missing a hard-enter or something…check out http://www.cargawar.com and try the ‘18+ category’ please…
@CARGAWAR!: If I understand you correctly, you just want to have a template for a page. In that case, create the template, and apply it to the page you want it to have. Have a look at page-tags.php for a template reference.
Unfortunately, I’m not able to have look at your webpage (I get a bad gateway here at work), so this have to wait ’til weekend. Sorry about that.
Same here, blocked by company filter…dammit!
Must be an old meta tag that’s still up. I blame it on Blogger though (lol)
About the template: “create the template” you say. Would it be wise to copy the default template and start working on that one? And where do I upload it (what’s the folder’s name)?
Also: “apply it to the page you want it to have”… I would like to have a standard template option in the Admin screen. Is this possible? (sorry, but my english sucks at this point. Here’s what I want to do:
I open Admin page, WRITE PAGE. Now, is it possible to choose a template from that screen? Or would I have to post the page first and then edit it afterwards?
Thanx again! “Lush” still motivates me to make something beautiful!
It’s definetely a good idea to start from page-tags.php as a reference. Basically, it’s nothing else than another page with pre-built content, in that case a function to display all the tags. Definetely easy to modify. Your new template also goes into the the theme folder.
When you write a page, there’s an option “Page Template” right to the textarea, where you can select your new template.
That’s all I needed to know. Your help is greatly appreciated again!
@CARGAWAR!: About your category problem: There are open table tags in the postings, starting with ‘Mannon’.
@Jeriko: thanx, now I’m curious how you found out!
That’s the whole problem: it worked just fine in Blogger, but these posts are imported and seem to break out the WP-template now.
Ehm… A solution would be to delete all imported Blogger posts I guess…but how does one do that? Is there a way to delete complete archives? I mean: without having to check all posts individually? Or is it possible to hide certain months?
After I imported the Blogger posts, I already regretted doing it. It sure messes up the site this way…
I think I better make an ABOUT-page now, that links to old archives or the old site(s).
Thanx again Jeriko. I owe you…
Is there a way to distinguish sub-categories from main-categories visually in the categories tab? If I for example use a category “running” and have the sub-categories “training” and “competition”. I’d like the latter two to be indexed like Blix does so everybody can see that those are merely sub-categories to “running”. Is that possible?
Cheers,
Mick
Another bug… Don’t know where yet.
Something is afoot in the Admin side of WP with Lush installed. I’m guessing it’s functions.php, but I can’t be sure.
Here are the symptoms I’ve seen:
- Deactivating or activating a plugin results in a blank page being returned. The activation/deactivation has worked, however.
- RSS feeds are messed up by having two blank lines inserted before the XML declaration, thus making them invalid. The feeds are still well-formed after the blank lines. For some readers, this doesn’t matter, but for aggregators such as FeedBurner, it breaks the feed.
Any ideas? I’ve had to switch back to my old theme.
Our lush theme seems to be doing all that we want it to do, but I just left a comment on a new post, and instead of my gravatar, it’s a blank box with the word “Avatar” in it. What am I doing wrong now?
Fixed the gravatar issue by replacing the gravatar code in comments.php to:
comment_author_url’ title=’Visit $comment->comment_author’>”;
} else {
echo ““;
}
echo “comment_type) {
echo gravatar($comment->comment_author_email);
} elseif ( (‘trackback’ == $comment->comment_type) || (‘pingback’ == $comment->comment_type) ) {
echo gravatar($comment->comment_author_url);
}
echo “‘ alt=” class=’gravatar’ width=’80′ height=’80′ />“;
} ?>
Now if I could only get the site to validate…
@Steve: Did you get the error with 0.99.3 or 0.99.5? And yeah, it is definetely the functions.php, the most difficult file of the theme. This was my first try to build one on my own, and I’m still in the learning process.
The file is parsed before any other file of the theme, even – if I’m correct – before every load of the blog. I’ve already contacted Chris Davis from the K2 Team and he will have a look at it. I hope that by then, it will work as expected.
The error in the functions.php file (version 0.99.7 updated by hand) seems to be related to various ^M’s in the file (windows return/linefeed) as well as a few empty lines after the ?> end php.
Removing these, fixed a few errors on the theme. But I do not know if all errors are fixed now.
Oops, another bug ?
When viewing a single post, I get the header containers twice. This seems related to the file single.php. There is a function get_header(); which allready adds the the header to the output, but just below that, the header is hardcoded, so it’s outputted (is that a english word ?) twice.
The headers are also defined in the file hold.php (what does this file do ? New to wordpress, sorry…) but should be included via the get_header function I guess.
Hope this helps.
@zaniwoob: Thanks for the advice with the line feeds, I’ll look into them. Although it’s funny, since I’m developing on a linux machine…
About the other thing, there is no file hold.php included with the theme. About single.php, just remove the hardcoded entry of the header and it will work.

Oh man, there’s too much going on right now. I had to remove the download links, since the current version is far from being stable. Have a look at message below the download link for the changelog to see what’s going on.
Unfortunately, this brings me into the situation that people are using two different versions and maybe ask for help or have specific requests, so I have to keep both versions, which isn’t ideal.
Let me say thanks to you all! Without your effort, I would never found all of these errors and never had the chance to fix them. Without you, Lush will never reach 1.0.
For now, the comments are closed. I have to contentrate on getting 0.99.5 to a stable version, which will be done by the end of the week, I hope. New requests would let me loose my focus. Hope to see you all again then!
Removing the line breaks fixed …everything! I can’t thank you enough zaniwoob for pointing me to this!
New archives, same version. Grab them while their hot!
I’m also in the process of preparing a page with all your specific requests, since discussing them through the comments is kinda difficult. Don’t wonder if some comments will be removed by me.
Hi Jeriko,
I’m still using one of the earliest version of Lush, following the discussions above I guess I’ll update mine when 1.0 is out. A minor thing I really like to do is the font size (postcontent). I would like the medium font to be slightly bigger (you know size appears differently on FF and IE) on FF. Is it the sheet named _css\medium? I changed the font size there but don’t see the difference?
Great work! I’m experimenting with WP and I had an issue with a nice plugin when using Lush. See here.
You’re welcome Jeriko. The linefeeds were just something I noticed. Glad to be of help.
I’ve updated the widescreen version of Lush also. For those people wanting a larger posting area (for pictures and stuph) grab it from my page.
Support is however not offered, since I’m too busy. Everything is the same as in the original.
http://www.forty-two.nl/lush-wide-screen/
Thank you so much! I know it wasn’t easy to port. I tried for 2 months after seeing Lush in the Typo theme competition.
I had never done such a thing and found myself starting over at different points, I did however manage to get the comments ported correctly but the sidebar footer graphic kept giving me trouble. I couldn’t figure out exactly where to put the php code for the ladybugs which seemed like it should have been so simple.
thank you again
I probably should’ve noticed this earlier, but there seems to be a problem displaying the post title in the title bar itself meaning google isn’t indexing actual posts on the 1.5 version. Fongstanley’s blog, which runs on the same platform, seems to have the same problem. The version I have running on WP 2.0 is fine.
How would I go about fixing it?
Cheers.
@Paul: In the header.php, in the title-Tag, change the_title() to wp_title().
Thanks…all sorted now. ;-)
Amazing Wordpress port. Nice work!
I just installed this theme on my web server and as I’m tooling around getting everything set up, I’ve encountered a problem. On the main page of the blog, the first post (made today) is displaying a date of March 7, 2006. I create an “About” page and it’s displaying the correct date. However, the php for the two pages and the code block for displaying the date look identical.
Any idea what’s going on here?
Wow, great work!
But the Livesearch does not work for me (Firefox 1.5.0.1 and IE 7b2, Win). I have the same problems with K2 that I usually power my blog with, BTW…
wow great port, skin :)
really like it, need to change the header and it will be superb
also amazing install of plugins:
* Ultimate Tag Warrior,
* Gravatar,
* time since
Work amazing after upload the plugins.
But i think you should add link to this plugins that work with this theme.
I want to ask you how to configure this tags to show icons such us :
Icons to display in icon formats:
Technorati
Flickr
delicious
Wikipedia
gadabe
Zniff
RSS
I add this , click to it but nothing show on my page.
Any ideas how to make it work. I am new to Ultimate plugin.
Thanx anyway for this theme, really works great !
I LOVE this theme. Thank you for all of your work and providing it to the community. I was a die-hard Kubrick/K2 theme user until I saw Lush in action. I’m trying to look inside and out at the css and the php so I’ll understand how to customize some things – although Lush outta the box rocks.
I’m having a hard time grasping how to change the headback.gif in order to include my own image. I understand photoshop – so, I’ve created my own layer with an image and some text. Do, I need to slice the lush_headers.psd file now in order to create the new headback.gif file?
Thanks in advance :)
@Sarah: I don’t know I guess I have to have a look at it. But as you mentioned, the code is identical, so there shouldn’t be any difference…
@coxis: To be honest, I don’t have a clue what you want :-)
@stefan: I never even opened the .psd file (I’m a photoshop lamer), so I don’t know. But you can ask the same question on http://w3-labs.com, I’m sure that Marco can help you.
I’m sorry if I’m a little bit on the slow hand right now, but I have to prepare for my exams and I’m currently configuring my new domain, so I can move this blog. I promise, by sunday, there will be a new URL and a new release.
Love the theme!
One problem though
I already had a page titled About this site when I enabled the theme. When I enabled the About this Site option in the lush control panel, I ended up with 2 About this site pages that were linked. One ATS entry in the About this site category and another in the pages section they were the same post however. I cant get rid of the entry under Pages without deleting the entry under about this site. Coinfused you will see if you visit my site. Any ideas? IU guess its a database thing, but Im just getting into blogging, so Im not an expert yet. Any help gratefully received.
ta,
Ken
Hey I fixed it on my own! I am a GOD !
I simply deleted the Heading of the “About this site” page, but not the text. The page disappeared from the Pages section, but not the About this site section – in case anyone else has this problem. You might like to make that an issue to look at Marco – don’t index the “About this Site” option using that text. Love it though still. Great work!
Thanks Jeriko – I figured it out. I did actually have to create the slices in photoshop myself and save the left portion of the header as the headback.gif
I guess I was confused about who created the theme… if I’m understanding right now, you took the Lush theme for Typo and ported it to WP and seems that you’re taking care of bugs in the port?
Great work on the port. I love Lush.
I was wondering if fongstanley made his “links” template page available?
I’ve been trying to get falbum to display in its own photo page, and I’m close to having it like I want, except I have to figure out how to make the thumbs in display as rows across the page versus just one column down the page.
I’m sure its something to do with inline versus block?
Thanks again!
stefan,
The links template is nothing too complicated, ask and you’ll get. Here it is http://blog.fongstanley.com/2006/03/30/lush-template-for-links/
Copy it and save it as a php file…you know the drill after that. To display your own del.icio.us links you need an account with them and their site will tell you how to do it.
fongstanley (and Jeriko) my question was about that tags for del, technorati…. how do you add this
also could i manage tags with static pages ?
I’ve been trying to implement falbum into my site and have a question for anyone. I went over to marco’s site but no contact page.
if you view my site and then look at my photo page, the “visited” check mark is making the drop shadows extend above the actual picture.
Hard to explain verbally… anyway. How are the visited checkmarks actually controlled? What file? Although I love that feature, its messing with the photo page for me.
And what is the purpose of having a local.css file? There must be something to it?
Thanks for any help in advance.
And, huge thanks to fongstanley for providing his links template :)
I’ve never worked with FAlbum before (in fact, I even don’t have a flickr account…yet), so I can’t help you with this, sorry.
Well, during the next weekend, I’ll have a extensive look at the source and if there’s nothing else, I’ll declare Lush as 1.0. After that, I’ll implement support for some more plugins, with FAlbum as first, since it was requested by many.
This also means that beyond 1.0, support for Lush by me will be decreased to a minimum, and also applies only to errors directly related to Lush. You know, there are other themes I’m working on, including my own, so I can’t spend all my time on just one theme. I hope you understand this.
Hi Christoph,
thanks a lot for this lovely theme – this was the point which leads me to start working on my blog. now i’m at a good state but I recognized one problem:
I tried to use livesearch.js.php instead of livesearch.js, but my webserver has problems. the response for the livesearch.js.php-request is 404, the text was printed to the screen (by firefox 1.5) but the functions in this *.js are not recognized
so you know a source for this kind of problem – other blogs, which are using livesearch.js.php don’t have to problems – my browser can handle this
any, idea?
Robert
offtopic
hey many people say that the theme loads slow
your blog robert loads fast, what is your hosting ?
@Robert: That’s no problem. Open livesearch.js, and change the URL at line 52 to your Host (http://jeriko.l-tech.org to http://www.kleinschmager.net/wp). Then, in header.php, change the appropriate link-entry from the .php to the .js file. That should work.
And indeed, the site loads very fast. I wonder if it has anything to do with the livesearch…
yee i try to optimize the css i js to page loads faster
for css i use:
http://flumpcakes.co.uk/css/optimiser/
http://www.cssdrive.com/index.php/main/csscompressor/
and next:
http://www.simple-by-design.org.uk/permalink/website-compression/
cheers.
But still the theme loads very slow, long…
Thanks for your help – I know that I’ve asked some support questions that may have been above and beyond.
I think I have solved the falbum issues. A lot of it has to do with the code of falbum itself. It is as though two people are working on the same plugin. You have the developer, and then you have a user of the plugin that has been fixing certain bugs and posting the fixed files on his site. So, the must current version that has the bugs worked out and which works with wordpress is v0.5.6
Check out my photo page and see if it looks okay to you and I can make the template and the falbum 0.5.6 available. IF you want it.
Cheers!
@stefan – please post the Falbum files. I have been trying to get it to work myself. You can also email me the files if you don’t mind wynntrinh at gmail dot com. thanks for your help. BTW, your photo page looks good.
Thx for beautiful theme
but can’t work the wp-lightbox plugin
plz help this plugin.
Hi Jeriko,
sorry to bother the list again. I though I had figured out my earlier post here, but I haven’t. I installed Lush (brilliant by the way) but I already had a post titled “about this site”. I ended up with a duplicate posting sharing the same post content – one in the “About” section (which I’d like to keep), and the same post (but I can change the title) in the Pages section. If I delete or change the original “About” page – I lose your page under “About”. I realise it must be something in the database – maybe if I delete the Page from there? I’ve never done that before though – any tool for managin an SQL database you can recommend? Any tips appreciated – it’s a bit niggly!
All the best,
Ken.
wynn,
just emailed you the zip from my gmail account.
hth.
Later this evening, I’ll put the zip out on my site for anyone else and try to write up something regarding what I changed and so forth.
-Stefan
@stefan: Absolutely awesome! I made a link below the Download section to your posting, so everyone can find it.
@cliff: There is a known problem if there’s a body onload function triggered after the script for lightbox is included. Since Lush has a onload function, there is no way that it will work the plugin. You should get the normal lightbox script here and include the script just below the body tag in the header.php. Then it will work as expected. Hope this helps.
click on the image, the lowest image:
http://guistyles.com/top-themes/?page_id=15
the plugin is here: http://zeo.unic.net.my/2006/03/29/lightbox-js-version-20/
after talk to a author we figure it out and it works but has a small bug with the close of the image , you must click over the image
cheers
A big thanks for your time looking into my problem, and solving it, Christoph. My About page is working perfectly now.
All the very best,
Ken.
Hi! Thanx for your exellent work on porting lush to wp. My absolute favourite-theme alltimes. I tried version 0.99.5 and all my buddies on windows machines went apes cause of loosing the sidebar. Tried the changes in your changelog. Nu luck.
Tried version 0.99.7 (in which i suppose you added changes from your changelog) and still – the loss of sidebar is there.
I can’t get it to work.
PHP version 4.4.2
MySQL version 4.1.10a
Any ideas?
Uhm…actually…I hadn’t included this change, sorry about that. In fact, I was so excited to include widgets that I totally forgot to check the theme against the other changes. Anyway, the new archives are up and running.
@modde: Regarding your problem, there are only two possibilites: In case you haven’t made the changes mentioned in the changelog it’s either 1) italic text or 2) content with exceeds the width of 481 pixels, which causes the sidebar to drop.
I’m having some trouble getting the theme to load. I new to wordpress and HTML/XHTML/CSS and thus am now sure exactly what the problem is. I’m getting an PHP parse error: ‘Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/varulv/webhome/wordpress/wp-content/themes/lush/functions.php on line 363′ and was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction in order to fix it. I’m not able to revert the theme to one that works due to this error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@Tom: It might be something with your plugins and some loops in the function.php, although I thoroughly tested every possible combination. Could you please tell me the plugins (with version) which are activated and lead to this error message?
For your problem, just rename or delete the lush folder. WordPress will then revert to the default theme.
Thanks for the good looking theme. I have it running on my site using WP 2.02. However the widget configuration buttons don’t work when widgetized lush is used. If I switch to classic or default then I can configure. The configured widgets then show up as intended if I switch to lush again. Any idea what’s happening?
hi jeriko,
the sidebar widget del.ico.us (includes in the original wordpress widget installation) does not work. i can drag it to the sidebar, but i don´t see it on the sidebar or on a post?
Okay, they were some problems in configuring the widgets, because I didn’t properly unregistered some widgets, and i’ve updated the javascript framework to the new version. Grab the new archives and this problem should be gone :-)
Thanks for the quick response effort to correct. Where should I download the new archive? I downloaded from the link above, and installed but nothing changed.
Hm, i tried it again with the del.ico.us widget, but still don´t displayed in the sidebar?
Don´t know why it didn´t work?
Hi. I’m trying to integrate the Hebrew Date Plugin with Lush.
I am having trouble with both the comments and the main articles.
I did a little research, and I guess the get_comment_date and the_time aren’t used by Lush at all.
The problem is that I am not familiar with WordPress or Lush coding, and therefore request help from someone who is.
Thanks,
Nathan
I am so impressed with this website. Very few comments are off the mark if any at all. Glad I stumbled across your page.Keep on blogging.
Ok, so eventually I figured it out.
I had to create some really bad PHP though. Looks something like this:
<p class=”auth”><?php if (function_exists(‘time_since’)) { ?> <?php printf( __(‘Posted by %1$s, %2$s ago (‘,’lush’), get_the_author(), time_since(abs(strtotime($post->post_date_gmt . ” GMT”)), time()))
?><?php the_time(__(‘F jS, Y H:i’,'lush’)) ?>
<?php printf( __(‘)’,'lush’)) ?>
<? } else { ?> <?php printf( __(‘Posted by %1$s at %2$s’,'lush’), get_the_author(), get_the_time(__(‘F jS, Y’,'lush’))); } ?></p>
Lightbox 2.0 does work with 0.99.7. Just remember to add the initLightbox() in the body tag as stated on the lightbox 2.0 page. it works fine on mine.
I use LUSH at my website http://www.life-is.nl but for some reason, the live-search isn’t working. I asked a bunch of friends to test it, and they all say the same, it isn’t working.
It was tested under windows with borh IE 6 an Firefox 1.5.0.1
I can’t find the problem, so I’m hoping for some help here.
I like the theme, but why is this on line 4 of pages.php:
<?php echo "test"; ?>
It displays “test” in a weird place on the page.
Comparing the pages created with page.php to the original Typo theme pages, there are some differences. Basically, the original has all the extras left out, which is good for pages. You might want to consider removing lines 4, 12, 16, 19, and 22 of page.php to stay true to the original. Like this:
<?php get_header(); ?>
<?php if (have_posts()) : ?>
<?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>
<div class="post">
<h2><a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="<?php printf(__('go read %s','lush'), get_the_title()) ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a></h2>
<div class="postcontent">
<?php the_content(); ?>
<?php wp_link_pages('before=<p id="pagination"><strong>'.__('Pages:','lush').'</strong>&after=</p>&pagelink=%'); ?>
</div>
</div>
<?php endwhile; endif; ?>
<a id="naughty" href="javascript:void(null);" onclick="wtyl('on');" onmouseout="wtyl('off');"> </a>
<div style="visibility: hidden;" id="wtyl"> </div>
</div>
<?php get_sidebar(); ?>
<?php get_footer(); ?>
I seem to have a problem – i cannot configure the del.icio.us widget with your theme. however when i switch to default it works fine and am as happy as larry. When i switch back again it works. no idea why – seems like a strange bug.
Hi, I’m back.
I just upgraded my site from 1.5.2 to 2.0.2 everything works smoothly except when I added back the links template, which was working fine in 1.5.2, something weird happened to the header image. See it here http://blog.fongstanley.com/links/
It repeated itself? Any hints?
Jeriko, ignore my last comment, issue with links template now fixed.
Has anybody had a problem with wrong redirection when hitting the enter keyboard button inside the LiveSearch feature on this theme, my blog is http://www.darrenstraight.com/blog/ and the live search works fine but like I say if I press the enter key inside the livesearch it redirects to: http://www.darrenstraight.com/?s=searchtermgoeshere
Instead of: http://www.darrenstraight.com/blog/?s=searchtermgoeshere
or
http://www.darrenstraight.com/blog/index.php?s=searchtermgoeshere
I’ve been trying to find a solution by editing various JavaScript and php stings but have had no luck, so I thought I would try here, hope someone can help!
Thanks,
Darren
I’m sorry if I’m not much of a help right now, but I have so much work to do. Of course I keep track of every comment and request here, but right now I don’t have the time to work on Lush.
Right now, I’m also working on an Origami port, the winner of the last years typo theme contest. But my main priority is the new design which will be launched on monday (see this post about it). Next week, I’ll have a deep look at all your requests and prepare a new release.
I hope that this is okay for you.
As long as it fixes my bug it’s ok with me! ;)
Haha how funny, I was looking to deep into things I should have just looked at sidebar.php and changed this:
If I do find any proper bugs though I’ll let you all know! :)
Nice design, it’s unique, I wish I have time to learn graphic design. I really like it. You asked visitor to leave comment but on your home page I don’t see how I can leave comment? So you get this here.
If you have a very big post title with this theme that ocupies two lines or more, the headicon_posting.gif image is not visible with Internet Explorer 7, as seen here for example:
http://www.darrenstraight.com/blog/
http://img439.imageshack.us/img439/1719/lushtheme2bi.jpg
Has anybody else seen this problem with IE7 or below so I can find out if it’s a IE7 bug or if it also happens on IE6 and IE5 etc, as firefox displays it all ok! :)
Thanks for the beutiful theme. I am new to wordpress, yet I have two queries. The first regards upgrading from 0.99.5 to the current 0.99.7, what procedures are necessary for the upgrade, simple replacement of php files?Second, regards the js lightbox plugin, there seems to be a conflict with the
Great theme! Thank you! :-)
Nice theme. I think i’ll retouch some thing but i really like it.
I had to “widgetize” it editing sidebar.php and adding a functions.php to turn widgets on.. but nothing else
Good work!
Greetings
For those using the sxore WordPress plugin you can fix the formatting issue by adding this to your lush theme’s header.php file after the
<style>
#sx_content {
margin-left: 38px;
}
</style>
That’s supposed to say “after the <?php wp_head(); ?>”.
Hi,
Great theme!However I have found one problem.
If I use the default sidebar then the ‘pages’section shows up in the sidebar and the sidebar displays correct.
If however, I choose to add my own selection of widgets and add the ‘pages’ widget then the sidebar gets pushed below the main page and the ‘pages’ section looks distorted.
This only happens with the ‘pages’ widget.
Using IE at the moment as I am at work unable to check with Firefox.
Any help much appreciated.
Neil
Okay, so here it is, v0.99.8!
- the ‘echo “test”‘ in page.php is removed
- the search now also works when enter is pressed instead of using the livesearch. the problem only occured if the blog was not installed in the root of the server
- pages widget does not drop the sidebar anymore.
@BB: That’s fine for you I guess :) Otherwise, I didn’t have heard any complaints about the layout of pages in WP Lush, but I think about adding a template to the zip.
@Sfong: I changed some things in the file structure some time ago, basically redundant code was removed. This also applies to the header, have a look at how it is made now. If you need help, contact me.
Dlp: I always ensure that the updates work out of the box. Just copy the files over and everything should work as expected.
Hi,
Re:v 0.99.8
The ‘echo “test”‘ is removed.
There is still a problem with the pages widget in IE dropping the sidebar below the main page. This is only when you choose to customize your widgets.
Firefox, of course, is no problem.
The ZIP file download still has v 0.99.7
Hope this helps and thanks so far.
Neil
Hi Christophe,
Using the Sidebar Widgets plugin you have an admin option to either leave the default sidebar or drag and drop individual widgets to the panel.
If I leave the sidebar as default then no problem…
If I start to customize and add widgets from the left panel then as soon as I add the ‘Pages’ widget I have the problem in IE of the sidebar falling below the main page.
Other widgets in the panel do not give this problem.
Thanks again
Neil
PS. I tried to PM you with a screenshot of the widgets admin panel but your mailserver does not like my email address??
Wow, so you are bringing Origami to Wordpress? I cannot wait, I am so excited.Lushg is awsome and Origami is just a s beautiful.Hopefully you will bless the WP community with a port of the Blocks theme from Typo as well.:)
Love the theme, but how come there is no links widget?
Hey, a new version. I’ll update the slightly widerscreen version also. Could take a while. I’m pretty low on spare time at the moment.
It’s just great as to how much work you can do in your lunchbreak. The widescreen version also has been updated to the latest 0.99.8 version. I found al LOT of ^M’s again in the sources. None of them are generating a bug.
Download the widerscreen version here.
http://www.forty-two.nl/lush-wide-screen/
My site does not popup in the google search, so I have to menion it here.
;-)
/affiliatelinkposter
@zaniwoob: Oh my, I had your link around for a while but forgot to insert in the post. I guess your modification is appreciated by some :) The ^M’s are generated because I’m developing both in Windows and Linux…
@Disneybear: Lush uses a different structure for the sidebar, so I had to customize almost every standard widget. The links widget will be implemented in the next version.
@neil: Strange. I’m currently figuring out why it’s doing it, thanks for pointing out.
@Jeriko: The new widescreen version has been downloaded 38 times allready. Thanks for putting up the link.
I’ve found a small bug in the commentfeeds url of the theme but I suspect it’s a Wordpress bug and not a theme bug and it’s only cosmetic, shall I e-mail you about this? It’s difficult to keep communicating via your blog comments. ;-)
I love your theme! XD
Hey Christoph,
I’m glad to tell you I got the whole sidebar problem figured out now.
I’m still working on adjusting the visual aspect of the layout, which is a lot of fun, especially when I finally found the ultimate plugin I was looking for: Image -> Headline generator!
As you can see (www.cargawar.com) I am now able to use my own font in the headlines of posts.
There’s only one small detail I would like to get settled and I was hoping you could help me out with it:
I would like to do the same headline trick with the “sidebar-nodes”. To do that I would have to use the same kind of PHP that you used on Lush for the -tag. But now I need it for the -tag.
How could I do this? Do you have any ideas?
Would it be possible to make a single PHP-file for just the Sidebar Nodes?
In that case: could I call it (i.e.) “??
I have no clue what I’d have to do here.
Could you help me out please?
Thanx in advance!
I downloaded and installed it, but the livesearch still doesn’t work. It says there are no results in the livesearch, but when choosing ‘more results’ or hitting enter, I do get results. I use the normal url with www.
Your theme is simply georgous… i completely felt in love with it…
I LOVE Lush. It’s a wonderful theme, but I have a slight problem with the “Submit” button for comments with both Camino and Safari on Mac. (Haven’t tested on PC. Yuck.) I’ve noticed it’s happening on your demo site referenced above as well as my own WP site (http://www.paxoo.com).
In both Safari and Camino, the Submit button is rendered as a Mac OS X native button (instead of the beautiful button you composed); in Camino, though, it doesn’t even say “Submit.” It’s just blank! I have screenshots if you’d like to see at http://www.paxoo.com/lush/. I tried to figure out the problem, but my CSS and JS knowledge goes only so far. Thanks for looking!
Stefan: Looks like your site is down? Could you email me the FAlbum files (eappell at gmail dot com), or post a link to where they are now?
Thanks!
eddie
Any ideas why images floated to the left of a post get overlapped by any adjacent blockquote?
An example can be seen here:
http://static.flickr.com/61/170460552_8cbd9cc38e_m.jpg
Otherwise, an absolutely fantastic theme! I’m planning to use it if I can fix this problem, and I’m also trying to add some Asides into the theme.
Stefan: Well, I love this theme – I’ve customized it a bit for my site and it just looks fantastic. Unfortunately I may not be able to use it.
I’ve just written my first post after installing Lush and any new post I create breaks the theme… I get this error whenever I create a new post:
Error: document.getElementById(“q”) has no properties
Source file: http:///wp-content/themes/lush/_js/lush.js
Line: 24
The page just shows the left side of the header, the title of the first post and that’s it. I tried just creating a very simple post with a title of “Test” and the content “This is a test” and it breaks the theme. So I’m wondering if anyone knows where I might start trying to fix this? I’d HATE to have to remove the theme, it just looks so good. But if I can’t create new posts it just won’t work out for me. ANY help is really appreciated!!! You can email me at eappell at gmail dot com.
Thanks!!
eddie
FYI, I found the problem that was causing my new posts to break the theme. It was the plugin “Text Contol” 2.0b1. Just a warning…
If I use sidebar widgets, the sidebar drops to the bottom in IE. Grrrrr. I thought I had this problem fixed. If I disable the sidebar widget, it looks fine. Anyone else have a problem like this?
By the way, the theme is absolutely great. One of the best designed I’ve seen in a long time.
I LOVE this theme. However, I am having the same problem as Eddie above — new test post breaks the whole thing, I get an error page in Firefox haven’t tested in any other browser, but I only have the wp database backup plugin installed and activated. Any other ideas?
Also, I can’t get the widgets to show up. Tried installing in widget directory under the plugins directory although I thought it would operate as is. Are there installation/customization instructions somewhere. I have lots of experience customizing wordpress themes, but am no php or js whiz. Do the widgets need to go under wp-includes instead?
Thanks in advance for any help, this really is an amazing theme.
Also, the latest release zip file seems to be missing the style.css file, but it is in the gz compression.
Wow, a really great theme you designed. I might use it soon. Thank you.

I’m using this theme right now and I am so happy with it! Thanks Marco! Does anyone have a suggestion for a “latest Comment” plugin that will work with this theme? I’d like to include links of the latest comments to appear on the widget sidebar, but I noticed some comments about how the bar moves to the bottom of the page whenever anything is added to the sidebar. Isn’t that right? Has anyone tried any plugin that will ad links of the latest comments without it messing up the layout or moving the sidebar? Also, I’d like to add my logo to the header. I understand I can configure the lush_headers.psd file to do this. How do I do this and what exactly do I need to change? I opened the file in notepad but I can’t make any sense of it. I can’t figure out where I would place the URL to my .jpg image. Thanks for any help you all can offer.
cool theme!
tnx u (:
i m going to try it for my blog
Hi there,
I just checked out lush today. It’s am excellent theme. I will be changind my current theme to lush over the next few weeks once I am done with customizing it further :)
I wanted to ask How could I remove the WORDPRESS LOGO in the sidebar, from looking that big.. to maybe something smaller? or move it al together to the footer?
Briljant theme, thanks very much, just installed it on my website.
Hi Jeriko,
Any updates on this Theme, I’ve had reports that LiveSearch dosent work on Firefox anymore, not even with the newest update.
Regards,
Darren
Nice article. Helped a lot…
:) David
Hey people,
Just forgot to mention that on line 76 to 77 of comments.php you have the following:
This ad’s the part in thus making sure the blockquote style for trackbacks are properly closed so no overlaping of trackbacks ocur!
Hope this helps people who are using the Lush theme and recieve more than 1 trackback in a comment section.
Damn my code got caugt up in the layout of this page, lets try again:
<li><blockquote class="<?php echo $trackback; ?>"><p><?php comment_text(); ?></p>
<p><cite><?php comment_author_link() ?></cite></p></blockquote></li>
Darren thanks for the advice, I’ll keep it in mind!
To be honest, it’s been a long time since I had a look at Lush. I thought about a complete rewrite, since it’s been awfully slow, thanks to all the files that are included during loading. It’s a great looking theme and it deserves to be freakin’ fast!
Unfortunately, I have to learn for my exams in late september and there’s the CSS Reboot on November 1st, meaning this will not happen in an instant. But it will, that’s for sure!
Hey no problem at all Jeriko take your time, studies are always more important, good luck in them by the way!
I like this theme very much!
Great theme. I need to know how to remove the ladybugs from the page templates. New to php.
As I’m doing a complete rewrite right now, please have a look over here to keep informed about the status and also get involed in some way.
Great I’ll head over to the link now! :)
Am i missing a plugin or something cause i tranfered my host and the live search worked well on the old host but doesnt work on this newer host
Hi Jeriko,
Long time no see, thanks for your comment at your place. I’m busy fixing my own new theme, just to be lazy, is it alright just download latest version of LUSH and paste the new header file over whatever version I have at the moment?
Nope, the version available here is old and is no longer supported by me. You can keep track of the progress for the new theme over here. Expect a release tomorrow or the day after.
yes very nice theme! could i use it?
I absolutely love this, and have started using it. Chris Brewer and Paul Woodhouse’s tweaks are gorgeous! I’m an idiot with this stuff, so it’ll take me a while to tweak mine.
I do have a problem though. My links are not appearing in the sidebar. I checked the code, and it’s there, but for some reason it’s not appearing. Any suggestions?
Lush seems to be real good, i will try it…
It’s amazing, I like it as well. All things I developed are runnin’, so no probs. Good thread. Greetz
Good themes…
But I like sidebar in left position.
bye
I´ve using your template a long time, is there a problem to update to the new lush version?
Hello, could i use this theme with own improvements for my site?
Thanks for the good looking theme. I have it running on my site using WP 2.02. However the widget configuration buttons don’t work when widgetized lush is used. If I switch to classic or default then I can configure. The configured widgets then show up as intended if I switch to lush again. Any idea what’s happening?
Any updates on this Theme, I’ve had reports that LiveSearch dosent work on Firefox anymore, not even with the newest update.
Slick looking theme! I’m curious why in the sidebar, some things show up as un-ordered list. Did you modify the css for the flickrRSS and tag cloud so that they would all appear inline? Let me know. Thanks mate!
Can someone provide a link to the altered FAlbum? The link at the top seems to be down.
Hello, this article ist verry interessting. We working with your template a long time and have not any problems. Can we update without any problems to the new version?
This theme may be too nice to be free :) thanks for making it available.
Thank, great Lush, I will try it!
I upgraded to WP 2.1 and now the links part wont work at all ,please help me out on this.
Yes very nice theme!
Hey! I’ve also found a bug with displaying the default Gravatar in comments.php. I’ve fixed it and can emil you the updated template if you’d like. Email me offline.
Great theme!
Lightbox 2.0 does work with 0.99.7. Just remember to add the initLightbox() in the body tag as stated on the lightbox 2.0 page. it works fine on mine.
Fantastic theme and no bugs. Thanks
